Leaving a Ugandan lady to capably operate a new accounting system was a highlight of ministry in Uganda for Australian accountant Audrey Leong (pictured with friends in Uganda). 

Audrey, an accountant from Sydney, recently spent eight months short-term ministry at the Mto-Myoni retreat centre in Jinja, Uganda. Her main assignment was to establish an accounting system for the ministry and hand this over to a local worker to operate.

As well, Audrey said she just loved meeting and living with the people.

Audrey said the ministry of Mto-Myoni was strategic in revitalizing African pastors ministering under hard conditions.

Each year about 400 to 500 pastors and Christian workers come to the retreat centre. Some receive counseling and pastoral care and others undertake training and discipleship courses that allow them to better do their ministries. Courses include “Father Heart” which is three days looking at God’s passion, forgiveness and reconciliation.  

Often the Christian workers are sponsored by Churches and various other organisations to come to the centre for training or special ministry.

Mto-Myoni is a Ugandan registered non-profit organisation currently run by two Dutch ladies, Ingrid and Wynetee.

As well as being involved in Mto-Myoni, Audrey was able to participate in a local Church. Here she was involved in taking Bible studies using materials such as the “Knowing God” series. She was also involved in teaching English to local Korean ladies. 

Audrey has become committed to ministry in Africa. She has now joined AIM in Australia as our part-time Mobiliser in Sydney. Audrey is seeking to encourage people in prayer for Africa and service with AIM in Africa.
