Ministries are built around relationships and these often take time to develop. Full-term assignments allow relationships to ripen and mature, allowing a closer walk and a deeper connection with those around you.
Full Term – If God is calling you to long-term service, AIM offers many opportunities to serve for one year or longer. A greater time commitment helps you to gain experience and become more familiar with local culture. Ministries are built around trusting relationships and these necessarily take time to develop.
AIM's mission is to see Christ-centred churches established and thriving among all of Africa's peoples. If you have a heart for church planting, we'd love to explore how you can serve Africa's unreached.
One way AIM approaches church planting and evangelism is through TIMO: our two-year missionary training program. TIMO is designed to equip new missionaries for a lifetime of ministry. Teams are placed among one of Africa's unreached or least-reached people groups for two years. Working under the leadership of seasoned missionaries, the team works to learn the language and culture of their host people and seeks ways to share Christ. Many teams have planted churches during their two-year term, and some return to minister among their host people group after completing the program. Learn more about TIMO here.
Other AIM ministries are composed of interdisciplinary specialists who have teamed up to to reach communities for Christ. This, for example, could include a medical worker, church-planter, and international development specialist, cooperating to share Christ and establish His church.
While Christ was on earth he spent much of his time discipling 12 young men. Over the past century, the Church in Africa has grown at a tremendous rate and there is a severe shortage of qualified pastors and Bible teachers. Pastors are routinely charged with 5 or more congregations-- far more than they can effectively shepherd. AIM is committed to meeting this need through our Theological Education ministries. If you have a solid foundation for Bible teaching and a heart for people, there are many opportunities to make a real difference by helping equip Africa's future church leaders.
AIM's medical ministries range from establishing mobile clinics in isolated communities to work in state-run hospitals providing complex surgeries and long-term care. In addition to meeting yawning physical needs, AIM’s medical ministries are a gateway to other important ministries.
Many African children are unable to attend school for the simple reason that teachers are underpaid or non-existant. If you have a gift for teaching and a heart for young people, you can help by teaching in a national school. Opportunities exist to teach math, science, vocational education, religion, special education, physical education, art and more. We also offer opportunities to invest in local teachers.
Many African communities lack such basic necessities as clean drinking water, sustainable sources of fuel, or basic farming skills. If you are trained in Community Development or Agriculture, AIM offers opportunities to make a difference in Jesus' name.
AIM personnel work to improve communities by teaching improved farming methods, teaching reforestation methods, finding reliable water supplies, and by establishing health education programs in public schools.
Social scientists often list Africa's "youth bulge" as one of the continent's greatest structural problems. An excess of young people, especially males, who are unemployed and restless can act out in ways that destabilize society-- often for the worse. The opportunities for youth ministry and discipleship in this environment are critical, and can have a huge impact on Africa's present and future Church.
AIM offers opportunities to work with Africa's children through education, outreach programs, and minitries to orphans and at-risk youth.

They come from all over – Korea, Australia, Brazil, Canada and just about everywhere in between. They’re missionary kids, or MKs, and they’re a big part of Africa Inland Mission’s ministry. Some know Jesus, and others don’t. We want them all to be a part of the Kingdom of God. We want them all to get a quality education, and to know love and care in the process. And we want to help them through some of the challenges that MKs often face.
AIM has been ministering to MKs for over 115 years. Today we continue to seek highly-qualified teachers, dorm parents, school administrators and support staff who can serve their unique needs. If God is calling you to this ministry, we’d love to explore the many options available.
Missions requires a team effort, and many of AIM’s personnel play a vital role in our overall ministry through the support services they provide. Some are pilots, flying missionaries and supplies into remote airstrips. Others make sure our computers and communications systems stay up and running. Or that a vital shipment of supplies makes it through customs and gets to where it needs to be. All are crucial to the task, and much of what we do in church building wouldn’t be possible without those who work the front lines of our support services.
