Typically longer than team assignments, individual placements run between three and 12 months— time enough to build significant relationships and make a lasting impression on those you are going to serve. Shorter assignment may be available upon request.

Who we’re looking for…

Our missionaries are flexible and enthusiastic about discipleship. If you’re 19 or older and want to be God’s hands and feet in Africa, a short-term individual placement may be for you.

Short-term mission oportunities abound in Africa, whether it’s teaching, construction, medical ministry or community development. Let us know your skill and passion and we’ll find a good fit. Note: regardless of your specific role, a core focus of your service will be relationship building and discipleship.

You won’t be alone…

AIM never sends short-term missionaries out by themselves.  You will be paired with another short termer, either from Canada or another Mobilizing Region (USA, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Brazil, South Africa). Each short termer has a support system— someone to encourage and to be encouraged by. Partners will not necessarily engage in the same ministry, but will be sharing accommodations, learning language, preparing food and attending church together.

Internships

»ACADEMIC: Some college and university programs offer the option to complete an overseas internship for course credit. Once aware of your internship requirements, we are able to seek an appropriate placement. Completing an internship in Africa will allow you to both meet school requirements and see how your training and skills can impact Africa for Christ.

»TRAINING IN MINISTRY OUTREACH (TIMO): TIMO interships give you the chance to see what our TIMO program is all about. The one-month placement is a great opportunity for Bible College students or would-be missionaries— anyone with a heart for African and an appetite for raw missions work.
