Medical missions play a key role in building Christ-centred churches. Health Ministry in any context involves building relationships that can hugely impact the African Church.
Medi-Quest – See medical missions up closeMedi-Quest is specifically designed for students training in a variety of health professions. Observing missionary and national healthcare providers, you will gain insight into a variety of rural and urban settings. You will discover more about the significant issues, challenges and rewards of healthcare in Africa. This is not a hands-on experience but an opportunity to explore, observe and experience cross-cultural relationships in a health ministry context. Team size varies from four to eight people; length is four to six weeks. (If you are a health professional interested in a team setting, please fill out our Ministry Interests Form.) As a medical student or nurse, doing your elective in a missions context is spiritually rewarding and beneficial to your studies. We accept: - 3rd and 4th-year medical electives - 3rd and 4th-year nursing consolidations/electives - Residency elective - Surgical elective -Other (inquire by filling out the Ministry Interests Form. All electives run a minimum of six weeks. This allows for pre-field orientation, on-field orientation, debrief and travel time. Students must work at the ministry site for a minimum of four weeks. Before you apply for your elective, please ask your educational institution the requirements / objectives / criteria set for you elective period, including the type of supervision required. This allows for an appropriate placement with one of our partner organizations. Note: Although you will be going to complete school requirements, a core focus of your service will be relationship building and discipleship. Health-care Professionals – Use your training to impact individuals and communitiesAs a health professional you have much to offer Africa. There are openings in curative (primary, secondary and tertiary), preventative, rehabilitative and palliative care settings as well as in education and training. Assignment length varies from five weeks to one year.
