Child and youth ministries – Impact African youth

Child and youth-ministry teams work with local churches or schools to providing sports programming, day camp activities, and Christian education. Are the summer counselor type? Join a team that is both fun and exciting-- and most importantly building into the spiritual lives of youth.

Building and Maintenance – Serve communities in a practical way

These teams work with churches, colleges and orphanages to build new structures or maintain existing ones. Projects include (but are not limited to) construction, cement laying, brick laying, carpentry, painting, finishing, and laying. You need not necessarily be skilled in all the above crafts, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential.

Size : Teams range from four to 10 members.

Timing : While most trips occur between June and August, teams do run throughout the year.

Note: some Ignite teams offer a combination of two or three of the  above-mentioned ministries. An evangelism team, for example, may be heavily involved in a building project.

When should I apply?

Applications for 2011 teams are due four to six months prior to departure. The deadline for summer team applications is January 2011, though September 2010 is ideal.

Students looking for a summer mission opportunity should plan as far in advance as possible to avoid stress. Early applicants also have ample time to raise necessary prayer and financial support.
