Living in Chad is tough. Due in part to its violence, poverty and massive movement of displaced peoples, Chad is tied for fifth place with Somalia in a list of the world’s top ten failed states.1
There is, however, a more subtle plague in this country, an understated disease that has attacked some of the bigger cities. AIM is reaching out to vulnerable women, recognizing that in order for these women to change their lifestyles and “sin no more,” they must have alternative employment. The Chad Vulnerable Women project provides micro-financing for these women to start up their own businesses, such as sewing or hairdressing.
Small amounts of money are also put toward emergency needs in this challenging and strategic work.
