Graduates of the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique, July 2006The Institut Supérieur Pédagogique [en: Teacher Training College] has been operating in Bunia since 1993. The three-year College was founded by CECA-20, AIM’s partner church in DR Congo, to provide Christian English teachers for Congo’s secondary schools.
FOR PRAYER
- Pray for the students' spiritual growth as well as mastering English grammar and pronunciation.
- Pray for graduates as they learn the teaching profession.
- Pray that Christian teachers would be positive role-models
- Pray for no more hindrances to construction plans.
“The project and hope of this year is construction of premises which will enable the school to move out of very restrictive rented accommodation,” writes AIM missionary and first-year teacher Bridget Howard. The current rented facility can only hold two classes, meaning every third year the college cannot take in new students.
The building project has been planned for over a year now. The church owns a good piece of land to build on and a donor in the UK has made a generous contribution towards the construction, but difficulty getting building permits and deeds has hindered the work. This has also slowed plans to start a Business and Management department, which has been limited to five students meeting in a local primary school classroom until the new premises is completed.
“We're also wanting God to give us clarity in planning the buildings, balancing the available finances and… creative ideas for the long term development of such a prime site,” she writes.
