Walk the halls of the pediatric wing at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya and you’ll likely encounter much more than headaches and broken bones. Unlike Canada, much of the population can't afford surgery for crippling medical conditions—even when these conditions are deadly. Unlike Canada, much of Kenya’s population can't afford help for crippling medical conditions—even when these conditions are deadly.

This project is headed by Canadian surgeon and missionary Dan Poenaru, who routinely deals with hydrocephalus, spina bifida, hypospadias, intestinal problems, cleft lips, and additional surgical complications. The aim is to ensure that no child is turned away because of financial reasons.

Funds are also used to buy surgical instruments, textbooks and to cover transportation costs.
