The Lord’s Resistance Army has brutalized communities in Uganda, Sudan, D.R. Congo and the Central African Republic. They pillage and destroy villages; rape, maim and kill people; and regularly abduct children, forcing them to commit violent acts.  Many have fled their homes.

The Congo/C.A.R. Crisis Relief Project provides assistance to people in DR Congo and the C.A.R. in the midst of ongoing war and conflict.  This includes food, supplies, and holistic health care. Beginning in the spring of 2010, Trauma and Reconciliation workshops are offering healing and hope to many who have suffered at the hands of the LRA and in the years of conflict that have devastated the region.

Felicité was captured by the LRA and spent 14 months in the bush with the militia group.  She shared that she even cooked food for the LRA’s infamous leader, Joseph Kony.  During her ordeal, she was forced to regularly drink strongly drugged coffee, and worked in the fields cultivating food for Kony’s troops.  One day God miraculously provided a way for her to escape, but until March she had found no escape from the deep wounds of her experience.  Following the workshop, she shared the she experienced significant healing, and later shared her testimony with community leaders who are being trained to help others like her.

AIM Canada would like to recognize Urbana ’09 and those who took part in the 2009 Ride for Refugees , whose support has allowed these workshops to take place.
