Creation of Hope volunteers bring in the harvest.

Over 500 orphans live in the small community of Kikima, Kenya. For those who live with elderly grandparents, or worse—in a child-headed home—the situation seems hopeless. Many run away to the big cities hoping for a better life. Few will find it.

Established in August 2008, Creation of Hope is an exciting partnership between Africa Inland Mission, Canadian schools, and the churches and community of Kikima. The project supports families who are caring for orphans; Children and caregivers are both empowered through provision of basic necessities including blankets and school supplies, micro-financing, business skills training, a community garden, and medical carechildren and caregivers are both empowered through provision of basic necessities including blankets and school supplies, micro-financing, business skills training, a community garden, and medical care.

Thanks to the hard work of children’s author Eric Walters, his family, and the creative efforts of schools in the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and across the country, many orphans will face a brighter future.
