A ladies’ Bible study has been meeting at the house of our hosts. At some point in its growth, the question was raised as to whether or not a secret church should sing out loud. Worshiping together in this manner, they decided, was well worth the risk of being caught. But the decision to sing was costly.

I have a friend with whom I can speak Arabic sometime but we don’t meet so often. She is 28 years old, she graduated as engineer but she doesn’t have a serious job.

I was invited to an association from here which tries to help women and children with problems - like violence in family, divorce, etc. It was a small part for the children. I hoped to meet their mothers there but I didn’t. But it was interesting to see how the party worked. At the beginning it was a choir of children. The girls were dressed with white shirts and a red scarf around their necks. The boys had the same white shirts and red scarf at neck, and those things reminded me about the time of communism in my own country, when I was a child and I wore the same clothes. But here it isn’t the same situation. After choir they played a drama in which they blended a spiritual life with social life, but the spiritual life was specific from here. In the end some of the children received some certificates from their drawings. It was special for them.

Creative Access Nations

Aim International’s members work in a number of countries where, for the sake of national Christians, other expatriate Christian workers and their own safety, it would not be wise to publicise their presence.
However, this does not mean that workers in these countries do not need our prayers. So how can we pray when specific information is hard to come by? Here are three areas that may help.

Language and Culture

It is essential that workers learn the language of the people and become acquainted with their culture, so that culturally-sensitive means of sharing the gospel can be developed. Pray that workers may learn quickly.

Relationships

While relationships are a vital factor in spreading the gospel worldwide, this is even more important in countries where public means of preaching are out of the question. Pray that good relationships would be developed between workers and seekers.

Protection

In many of these countries, the persecution of Christians is simply an accepted element of state or religious law and workers literally place their lives on the line for the sake of the gospel. Pray that God would keep them safe.
