AIM’s newest school opened in August, and as Debbie Weissenburger says, this is just the start of an exciting journey. A new beginning Wellspring Academy is the newest AIM school serving the children of Cross Cultural Christian Workers in N’Djamena, Chad. It is an English medium primary day school for children ages 6-11.
The goal of the school is two-fold: we’d like to retain families by offering an excellent English education, slowing the attrition of families departing for lack of educational options; we’d also like to recruit families to work in Chad. If there is a school for their children, ministry in Chad is more attractive. We plan to run a day school through the year and also offer support services to the homeschool families who serve throughout the country of Chad. Chad
Capital: N’Djamena Chad is divided into three major geographical regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the centre and a more fertile Sudanese savanna zone in the south. Staff and families We have two trained teachers for this year. There will be two classes with mixed years. The younger three years will be taught by Lori Hildebrand, a retired teacher from Manitoba, Canada. The elder three years will be taught by me, having arrived recently from teaching in Kenya. I will also be serving as head teacher, administrating the school. We are excited to have five families sending their children this August. Twelve students will fill the classrooms that are coming to completion. The building project has created a three classroom building that has room for expansion. It is very exciting to be doing a ‘new thing’ here in Chad. We appreciate your prayers as we get underway and watch God bless His work here in Chad. |
