Chad update #2 |
|
|
In the current situation we praise the Lord for His help in many instances in Chad.
Thank you for your prayers for the country of Chad these last few weeks. In the current situation we praise the Lord for His help in many instances in Chad these include:
- Ndjamena is being cleaned up and the bank has opened its dooors
- Many cars stolen are lined up at the police station waiting for owners to collect them
- The TIMO team is now safely in Ndjamena
- For the encouragement of many mission properties not having been destroyed in the battle
- For those who were not previously able to get to Ndjamena, now having arrived safe and sound
- For the faithfulness of the guards of many homes.
We continue to pray for:
- those who have been evacuated to many countries and who find it difficult to know if and when they should return.
- wise criteria to be set by mission leaders in these uncertain times.
- that the door will remain open for effective ministry in Chad.
- the many Chadian Christians who have no choice but to stay in their country.
- the many Chadian families who have lost loved ones in the fighting
- for the Church in Chad as she comforts and helps those who have suffered
In situations like this there are always those heart warming stories of bravery and faithfulness. There have been many of these, particulalry of those guards who faithfully stayed and watched the homes of those who were evacuated. In the midst of the chaos around, one guard even faithfully fed the cat and kittens in the home he was guarding.
There are also the heart breaking stories eg one of the AIM guards who stayed on and guarded the house had 6 neighbours killed by a shell nearby last Saturday. Although the AIM guard was not hurt, he is grieving the loss of his friends. He represents many hundreds of grieving people in the city who have lost loved ones or who have injured relatives and friends |
