Our Finance department include:

Deborah Kong

I became a Christian when I was 14, in a church with a strong missions interest. I first worked in the finance department of Aim as a summer job in 1999, and joined the staff full-time in 2000. My work in the finance department involves preparing the annual accounts, keeping an eye on the contact database, and overseeing the income and expenditure processes.

I am a Nottinghamite who joined the finance department in November 2004 after taking a career break from British Telecom. I am mainly responsible for recording and depositing all of the giving coming in to the Mission and trying to keep everybody’s records up to date. I am married to Jackie and worship at Queensberry Baptist Church on the north east side of Nottingham where I am part of the leadership team and play bass in the worship group.

Having lived and worked in London for seven years - mostly in the travel industry - I joined the finance team at AIM in July 2007. My responsibilities include communicating with U.K. missionaries and paying the bills. I am married to Debee and currently worship at Watnall Road Baptist Church in Hucknall.

The finance department is a place full of numbers. The work is interesting and varied, and largely revolves around processing income and expenditure for the European office, aiming to keep donors, missionaries, and regulatory bodies happy while doing so. We deal with about 20,000 donations each year from over 3,000 donors, and allocate them to one of about 650 funds for missionaries and projects. We reclaim the Gift Aid on over 12,000 donations, and ensure that this goes to the correct funds. We provide budgets and financial statements for approximately 100 UK missionaries, as well as financial orientation and ongoing support (including payroll and reimbursement of expenses) for the missionaries while they are serving on the field.

We are also involved in producing an annual budget and accounts for the overall work of the European office, and in the financial planning which goes towards ensuring the good stewardship of the resources which God has blessed us with.

John Brand, Aim International’s UK Director since 1999, has been appointed Vice-Principal of the Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh. He took up this position in September 2007. Aim’s Board of Trustees have begun the process of identifying a replacement for John. In the meantime Neil Pheasant, our Operations Director and John’s deputy, will act as UK Director.
