Imagine being born in the world’s most beautiful city! Yes, I was born in Cape Town. In 1975 I joined AIM and worked on the Indian Ocean Islands for the next 24 years. This was truly a great time with its many challenges and blessings as I was involved in health education and the rehabilitation of malnourished babies mainly, as well as in team leadership. Thereafter I worked in AIM’s International office in Bristol for 8 years and am currently the Personnel Director for AIM Europe overseeing the Personnel Department in its many facets.

I am originally from Germany, but have lived in Nottingham for the last 7 ½ years. I have always had a special interest in Africa and worked for five years in the Africa department of a large Christian relief and development agency before coming over to England. In Aim I am mainly involved with the initial screening of applicants for missionary positions, the weekly prayer line, insurance matters as well as all aspects of pre-field administration for new missionaries such as immigration and travel. I love my job. It is a wonderful privilege to help people fulfil their calling. In my free time I support my husband Thorsten in his ministry as a pastor of the Nottingham Chinese Christian Church.

I organise the placements for Gap Years and summer teams, known as the Synergy programme. I grew up in Maidenhead and lived for a few years in Greece and France. I came to Nottingham to study Music at the university. After graduating, I got married, worked for my church for a year and then did various administration jobs before joining Aim when the offices moved to Nottingham.

Hello, my name is Miriam. I am half-Egyptian, but have never been to Egypt or anywhere in Africa – yet!! I work part-time in the Synergy Department of Aim; answering enquiries, and helping in our short-termers’ preparations to go out to serve in Africa. I grew up in Nottingham, studied in Oxford for 4 years, lived and studied in Portugal for 3 years, 3 months, and studied in The Netherlands for 3 months. I work part-time as an ESOL teacher. I love both my jobs.

Aim’s personnel department has as it’s aim getting the right people to the right place in order to further the Kingdom of God in Africa by working alongside the church in discipling believers and by reaching the unreached in partnership with the Church. Our motto is “Serving Africa’s churches, reaching Africa’s people.” In this, we believe that the Lord leads some of His children into His ministry in Africa through AIM.

In order to do this we process those who believe God is calling them into ministries with AIM which dovetails with the objectives and purpose of the mission. We process full term members, i.e. those who go for more than one year. We also process Short Term members through our Synergy programme – i.e. those who go to Africa for less than a year.

Above all we are looking for and trusting the Lord to send us those people who want to honour His name by declaring the glory of God to the people’s of Africa, those who wish to use their God given gifts, abilities and training to His glory.
