Serving and Reaching

Aim International (founded as Africa Inland Mission) is an evangelical Christian mission agency serving across Africa, and ministering to Africans living around the world. We work in partnership with the African church to reach Africa’s unreached peoples with the Good News of Jesus Christ, and to develop leaders for the fast-growing church. God is using men and women from all walks of life, men and women just like you, to make a difference in people’s lives. We invite you to prayerfully consider how God could use you in this exciting ministry through prayer, finance, or through short- or long-term service with Aim International.

Africa’s church is growing. Today around half of the population of the continent would identify themselves as Christians. There are growing congregations in rural and urban settings.

So how does Aim International serve Africa’s churches?  Here are some of the ways we work alongside the church in Africa:

• through the development of its leadership and training programmes in theological and Bible colleges, and through local initiatives as well as in general education at church-run schools 
• assisting local churches with technical help in projects such as wells and irrigation, agriculture, and small businesses
• supporting the churches’ health programmes through hospitals and dispensaries, through nurse training, and in their response to the Aids pandemic
• presenting the challenges that the church is facing to the church in the West. There are situations across Africa that need financial and prayer support as, for example, some countries rebuild after years of civil war.
• If fifty percent of Africa’s population identify themselves as Christians it follows that 50% do not. Many of these people are from ‘unreached people groups’.

Our vision is to see all of Africa’s 3,000 or so people groups with a body of believers that is equipped to bring the gospel to others. Reaching out to these unreached people groups may involve working in remote places and learning a language that has never been written down. But it may mean moving to a city to which refugees have fled and these cities are not necessarily in Africa – many of Europe’s cities have significant populations of people from people groups in Africa that do not, as yet, have an indigenous church.

Alongside our church-based ministries, Aim has two programmes set up especially to see this vision become a reality:

• Training In Ministry Outreach (TIMO) is a two-year, hands-on programme teaching the skills needed in pioneer, cross-cultural mission
• African Connections in Europe (ACE) is concerned with ministry among Africans from unreached people groups living in Europe.
