Saturday, 04 July 2009

This weekend finds a group of new missionaries and their families at Scott Theological College in Machakos, Kenya, participating in AIM’s Africa-Based Orientation (ABO), where they will be learning about African culture and values prior to beginning their ministry assignments.  Pray for the speakers, small group leaders, and staff as they work together during these weeks (June 30 – July 21) to provide meaningful sessions and activities in order to prepare new missionaries to be able to share God’s Word effectively in their various places of ministry.

Steve and Lori Kramer are finishing up their final term as dorm parents at Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya.  Pray for them as they make the final weeks of the school year special for the junior high girls they serve in Swala Dorm.  Pray for Steve who has been battling with health issues for several months.  Ask God to grant healing and pray for strength to complete the school year well.

Praise the Lord with short-term missionary Fiona Logan serving with AIM Care in Nairobi, Kenya, as she has had recent opportunities to develop relationships with Kenyans.  Pray for a good housing arrangement for Fiona’s second year in Nairobi.  Ask God to keep her safe and bless her with good times of fellowship and support in the city.  Pray that her ministry would be fruitful, and that she would accomplish God’s purposes for her time in Africa.

Tuesday, 30 June 2009

Retirees Wayne and Essie Herrod welcome prayer for the various ministries they participate in.  Pray for their continued service through committee work with AIM Canada, and for Wayne as he serves on the missions committee at their church.  Pray for wisdom and protection for Wayne as he provides spiritual care for the staff of an urban ministry.  Ask God to bless them with discernment, health and strength as they have partnered with Life-Light Ministries to take Bibles to the Reserves of Manitoba, Canada.

“Tools for the Job” Print E-mail
Monday, 29 June 2009

Consider the size of your own pastor’s library … then think of African pastors who have received theological training, but find themselves pastoring multiple churches with just a handful of books for study, research, and sermon preparation.  Pray for several AIM initiatives which seek to help.  The Multi-Church Pastor Institute provides training and resources for pastors who split their time and energy between several churches.  Pray for Phil Morrison and his team as they put on conferences and training sessions in this area.  Pray for funding for “Tools for the Job” which seeks to provide pastors with a helpful set of quality books to use in their ministry.  Pray for African pastors to have strength, wisdom, integrity, and endurance as they serve their congregations and share God’s love.

Phil and Jacqui Vander Kraats Print E-mail
Saturday, 27 June 2009

Pray for Appointees Phil and Jacqui Vander Kraats who have been waiting on God’s timing for an assignment.  They are praising the Lord that they were recently assigned to serve in Lesotho, working with an organization known as Growing Nations.  Unfortunately due to the economic situation here in the US, Phil lost his engineering job.  Pray for temporary work for Phil to meet their needs while they raise support.  Praise the Lord that they have a place to stay through a church in Connecticut, but pray that their home would sell quickly and at a fair price.  Ask God to raise up the necessary resources for them to depart in His perfect timing and that the Spirit would lead them in all the decisions they need to make.
