Mundu

MUNDU of CONGO

Population: 25,000
Location: Southeast Sudan and Northeast Congo

There are about 5,000 Mundu actually in Congo with the rest over the border in Sudan. Mostly they practice nominal Christianity superimposed on traditional African religion.
Food and shelter are considered adequate with a fair water supply. Health care and education are considered poor.
They do subsistence farming with cassava, corn, sorghum, rice, peanuts, beans, green vegetables as their crops

Most recreation is through music - songs and drums with a small lyre type instrument. Other forms are through dances and telling folk stories.
Large social gatherings are connected with funerals - fixing up the grave and coming out of mourning.
Since health care and education are poor this will probably be the means used to bring the Gospel to this people group

The Mundu People

February 2008

Please continue to pray for God's guidance and provision for the Mündü translation team in Sudan and their families in Uganda. Pray that many will read the Mündü New Testament and that the Holy Spirit will use it to change lives and revive the church.

Daily Prayer

Marsali Campbell
Fuel for Prayer

Marsali Campbell has recently returned to Kampala, Uganda, from her home assignment in Scotland.  Pray for her as she provides health care for street children at Dwelling Places children’s home.  As she uses her nursing skills, she is able to build relationships with children and their mothers, discipling and praying with the children, and encouraging them to love and follow Jesus.  She writes of the children, “They are God’s treasures and we continue to love and serve Him by reaching each one of them.”  Pray for her plans to open a “mobile clinic” to expand her ministry and reach out to more street children.
