Full Term: One year or more – If God is calling you to a long-term ministry, AIM has many opportunities to serve for one year or longer. A greater time commitment helps you to gain experience in your ministry and to become more familiar with the new culture around you. Ministries are built around trusting relationships and these often take time to develop. Full-term assignments allow these relationships to develop and grow, and enable you to really invest yourself in the lives of others.
Seeing Christ-centered churches established and thriving among all of Africa's peoples is at the center of AIM's mission. If you have a heart for church planting, we'd love the opportunity to explore with you the many opportunities for reaching Africa's unreached.
One of our primary means of church planting and evangelism is through our two-year missionary training program TIMO. This program is designed to equip new missionaries for a lifetime of ministry. Teams are placed among one of Africa's unreached or least-reached people groups for two years. Working under the leadership of seasoned missionaries, the team works to learn the heart language and culture of their host people, and seeks ways to share Christ with them. Many teams have seen new churches established during their two-year term, and some return to minister among their host people group after completing the TIMO program. Learn more about TIMO here.
Other AIM ministry teams can consist of specialists from a number of disciplines coming together to use their skill sets as a means of reaching communities for Christ. This, for example, could include a medical worker, a church-planter, and a community development specialist, each serving in unique ways but working with a common goal of sharing Christ and establishing His church.
One of Christ's primary ministries while on earth was the preparation of the Church through the discipleship of 12 men. The Church in Africa has grown at a tremendous rate and there is a severe shortage of pastors and trained teachers of the Word. In fact, some pastors are responsible for up to 20 congregations, far more than they can effectively shepherd. AIM is committed to help meet this need through our Theological Education ministries. If you have a solid foundation for Bible teaching and a heart for people, there are many opportunities to make a real difference through equipping Africa's future church leaders.
Africa Inland Mission’s medical ministries take on many forms, from mobile clinics providing basic medical care in isolated communities, to work in large hospitals providing complex surgeries and longer-term care. In addition to meeting incredible physical needs, AIM’s medical ministries play a central role in opening doors for other ministries and in developing the African church. There are opportunities to train and disciple African medical professionals, and opportunities to introduce those under your care to Christ.
Many African children don't have access to schools due to a lack of teachers. If you have a gift for teaching others and a heart for young people, you can help meet this need through teaching in a national school. This can include a broad range of subjects: math, science, vocational education, Bible, teacher training, special education, physical education, art and more.
Many schools lack basic resources so flexibility and innovation will serve you well as you engage in your daily teaching ministry. Teaching provides an opportunity to invest in lives and impact the future of the continent of Africa.
Many African communities lack basic necessities like clean drinking water, a good supply of firewood, or nourishing vegetables from a healthy garden. If you have skills in Community Development or Agriculture, AIM has opportunities for you to make a difference in Jesus' name.
AIM personnel work to improve communities by teaching improved farming methods, finding reliable water supplies, teaching reforestation methods, and through community health education.
Research has shown that around the world, 80% of Christians trusted Christ between the ages of 4 and 14 - a demographic that has come to be known as the "4/14 Window."
On a continent where nearly half the population falls within this window, the opportunities for youth ministry are tremendous, and can have a huge impact on the present and future Church.
AIM has opportunities to work with Africa's children through education, outreach programs, and through services to orphans and other children at risk.

They come from all over – Kansas, Ohio, Australia, Germany, and just about everywhere in between. And while they’re all unique, they share one thing in common. Their parents are missionaries in Africa. They’re missionary kids, or MKs, and they’re a big part of Africa Inland Mission’s ministry. Some know Jesus, and others don’t. We want them all to be a part of the Kingdom of God. We want them all to get a quality education, and to know love and care in the process. And we want to help them through some of the challenges that MKs often face.
For over 115 years AIM has been ministering to the children of our missionaries, and today we continue to seek highly-qualified teachers, dorm parents, school administrators and support staff who can minister to the unique needs of MKs. If God is calling you to this ministry, we’d love to explore the options with you.
Missions requires a team effort, and many of AIM’s personnel play a vital role in our overall ministry through the support services they provide. Some are pilots, flying missionaries and supplies into remote airstrips. Others make sure our computers and communications systems stay up and running. Or that a vital shipment of supplies makes it through customs and gets to where it needs to be. All are crucial to the task, and much of what we do in establishing Christ-centered churches among all African peoples wouldn’t be possible without our support services teammates.
